Talis02

A Talisman is a small amulet or other object, often bearing magical symbols, worn for protection against evil spirits or the supernatural.

Demons are ordered in talismans to follow the instructions and to leave the patient whom they inhabit. Only the most important names will be mentioned. A spirit of the lower world is assigned to every day of the week.

Other jinn associated with talismans include F-qt-sh (vowels uncertain), physician of the jinn; Isma'il, secretary of the jinn; and Abu Dibaj, king of the qarins.

Seals and talismans, active magical tools even today, have a long and involved history, drawing on traditions from a number of faiths and reaching back to the dawn of civilization. Much mystery still surrounds talismans and seals from ages past. Today's magical symbols may be less ambitious, but the mystique surrounding them endures.
