The Qarin (Arabic: قرين qarīn, 'constant companion') or Hamzad (Farsi: همزاد "doppelgänger"), is a jinni double of human, either part of the human himself or a complementary creature in a parallel dimension. They are unique to each individual. A qareen pushes a person to do evil things and to disobey Allah, with the exception of prophet Muhammad.
Al-Qarinah (sometimes called at-Tabi'ah) and Umm al-Subian are well-known jinn whose names are also often found on talismans. Al-Ahmar is sometimes called Abu at-Tawabi', or father of the qarins, the male versions of al-Qarinah.
