In Iranian lore, the beautiful Peri Merjận ("peri pearl") is captured by the fierce and ugly dev, Demrush and chained to the center of a mountain. Her brothers Dậl Peri and Milận Shậh Peri tried to save her but failed; ultimately she was rescued by the hero, Tahmuras.
